Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It’s a true story. Or total fiction. Or a play about a play. Or a raucous resurrection…that ends in a song and a scaffold.

In the overwhelming quiet of the woods, six runaways from city life embark on a silent retreat. Filled with awkward humor, this strange and compassionate new play asks how we address life’s biggest questions when words fail us.

This production will feature a unique cut of the script and be revised for a modern audience with an all-female cast. Joan’s story is as relevant today as it was six-hundred years ago as it dramatizes the dangers of speaking truth to power in a society dominated by overwhelming political and religious forces. First performed in 1923, it was inspired by the canonization of Joan of Arc in 1920, nearly five centuries after her death in 1431.

She can’t really make a cake for such a wedding, can she? For the first time in her life, Della has to think for herself.

What could possibly go wrong? Incurably lustful and lonely, hapless and hopeful, these seven souls collide and stumble their way towards a new understanding that LIFE SUCKS! Or does it?

This “deconstruction” of the Little Red Riding Hood story is a darkly comic, predatory fairy tale for adults that explores the conflation of sex and fear in modern culture, the comfort of lava lamps, and the dangers of a handy axe.
