SYNOPSIS

“Find Your Place”

Tommy, a down-and-out Dubliner estranged from his family and living in squalor at his imperious uncle’s house, has carved out a meager existence running odd jobs and hatching get-rich- quick schemes with his friend and associate Doc. But when he returns one night after having rescued a battered and bloodied young woman, his spontaneous act of decency brings about a glimmer of new possibilities, even as echoes from the past and the looming specter of death threaten to take it all away. Warm and wistfully funny, Conor McPherson’s The Night Alive observes the small moments of grace that illuminate our lives and deliver us from the darkness.

SYNOPSIS

“Find Your Truth”

In the aftermath of a civil war over the throne of Thebes, two belligerent brothers are dead, and the newly anointed ruler, Creon, has decreed one of them a traitor whose body shall remain unburied. Antigone, sister to the slain brothers, openly defies Creon’s orders, setting the stage for a battle of wills that pits national allegiance against family loyalty. In this adaptation of the Sophocles play, classic authoritarian and civilly disobedient figures take on modern sociopolitical resonance, as pride and ideological obstinacy preclude compromise and beget a cycle of destruction.

“Find Your Home”

Acclaimed playwright Will Eno flips the script on the classic ‘Family Play’ in this clever and subversive Pinter-esque comedy, in which two adult children, along with their uncle, return to their parents’ home to celebrate their anniversary. The dog has gone missing, Father is relentlessly unpleasant, and the rest of the family is doing their best to withstand his attacks. Eventually, an oddly familiar real estate agent arrives and reveals that Father plans to sell the house. Soon, other visitors appear, and the long-standing family dynamic – the family itself – breaks apart and transforms into something entirely different, if not altogether new.

“Find Your Power”

On the way home from battlefield victory, Scottish general Macbeth encounters a trio of witches who cryptically allude to his future triumphs, culminating in his ascent to the throne. As these prophecies gradually come to pass, Macbeth’s initial skepticism gives way to corrupting temptation, agitated to murderous ends by his scheming wife. In this fright-filled adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic dark tragedy of unchecked political ambition, supernatural forces conspire with mankind’s basest nature to circumvent the established moral order and satisfy the lust for power.

“Find Your Light”

When Henrietta Leavitt is offered a position at the prestigious Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she leaves her rural Massachusetts home to pursue her passion for astronomy. Upon arriving, however, she learns that she won’t have access to the telescope but instead will be working with photographic plates, cataloging the stars with her fellow female “computers.” Undaunted, she dedicates her spare time to exploring her own ideas – juggling work, family and burgeoning love on the way to making a groundbreaking discovery. This true story of the celebrated astronomer explores female solidarity in a male-dominated world, challenging conventional ideas of one’s place in the world and the universe.
